Los colaboradores de este espacio, siempre nos preocupamos por traerles lo más fresco en la escena mundial. Tenemos la dicha de presentarles a un gran productor de Nu-disco en el que muchos ojos están puestos. Se hace llamar Cyclist y simplemente es brillante, los pocos releases que ha sacado son impecables y te remontan a un época en donde los tacones de plataforma y los afros abundaban. Uno de los productores más prominentes de la industria, sin duda alguna....

En realidad no es una gran historia, simplemente un día estaba andando en mi bicicleta, tratando de poner un nombre a mi proyecto y Cyclist estaba disponible, así de simple.
MENTA:¿Donde resides actualmente?
CYCLIST
En Toronto, Canada.
MENTA:Explícanos un poco de donde viene la influencia de tu música y cuales son tus influencias:
CYCLIST
Tengo diferentes influencias musicales a través del tiempo. Crecí escuchando The Cure, New Order y otras bandas de UK que hacían música bailable. Cuando era adolescente comencé a interesarme por el Funk escuchando a Lenny Kravitz, Jamiroquai y Me;Shell. Después pase al jazz de los 70´s como Herbie Hancock, Stanley Clarke , George Duke y Deodato. Ahí fue cuando se convirtió una obsesión la música y empece a comprar mucho vinilos de artistas como Marvin Gaye, Al Green y Aretha Franklin. Eso me llevo a comenzar a en una banda donde tocaba la guitarra y hacíamos música Disco (En aquel entonces esa palabra muy mal vista por al gente).
Eventualmente después de todo, empece a hacer mi propia música dance, me gusta incorporar elementos soul y funk, pero me sigue encantando los sintetizadores de los 80´s , claramente lo pueden ver reflejado en mi música.
MENTA:¿Qué estas escuchando ahorita?
CYCLIST
En este último año he estado escuchando Disco de la vieja escuela llamado Beam Me Up. Esto me motiva a seguir buscando joyitas de esa epoca y rarezas. Me encanta el Deep Disco/House como Marvin Gaye Guy- Shot Me o Art of Tones. Obvio sigo escuchando releases de Nudisco que mis amigos hacen.
MENTA:Como te sientes que uno de releases haya sido incluido en el mixtape de Fitness Club (Colaborativo Frances de Nudisco que se compone de artistas como Zimmer, Yuksek, Jupiter, etc...)

Me encanta, la verdad que soy muy fan de todos esos artistas y me siento muy halagado
MENTA:¿Qué sigue para Cyclist?
CYCLIST
Estoy justo a punto de empezar mi gira por Europa. Estoy muy emocionado por que es la primer ves que voy a tocar fuera de Norte America.Por otra parte estoy a punto de sacar mi propio label con Karl Kling de RAC, Mani/Pedi Records escucharán hablar de nosotros.

Bueno, soy vegetariano por lo que no como helado pero si tuviera que, sería Coconut Bliss... Es increíble.

Where does cyclist name come from and why?
CYCLIST
There isn't really a great story behind the name... I was on my bike while trying to come up with a name for my new solo project and Cyclist wasn't taken.
MENTA:
Where are you based out?
CYCLIST
I'm in Toronto, Canada.

Explain us where does your music comes from and what are your influences?
CYCLIST
I've had many influences over the years, I grew up listening to The Cure, New Order and other UK dance bands. I got interested in funk in my teens listening to early Lenny Kravitz, Jamiroquai and Me'Shell. Then I got in 70's jazz fusion... Herbie Hancock, Stanley Clarke, George Duke, Deodato... that became an obsession and I got into collecting vinyl. I started checking out old soul acts, Marvin Gaye, Al Green and Aretha Franklin. I started playing in a funk band (guitar)... well really it was a disco band but disco was a bad word back then. Eventually I started making my own dance music... I like to have soul/funk elements in my music but I still love the synth based 80's dance music as well so that shows up sometimes too.

What are you listening right now?
CYCLIST
For the past year I've had a regular old school disco night called Beam Me Up with my friends A Digital Needle. That keeps me digging for disco gems and good edits. I love deep disco/house cuts like Marvin and Guy - Shot Me or Art of Tones - The Same Thing. And I try to keep up with what all my nudisco buds are putting out. I basically only listen to dance music these days haha

How do you feel that one of your releases was included in a mixtape of Fitness Club?
CYCLIST
Ok, I googled it... very cool! Thanks for letting me know. I'm a fan of all those artists so it's a big honour!

Whats next for Cyclist?
CYCLIST
I'm gearing up for my first European dates. Nov.30 - Madrid, Dec.4th - Barcelona and Dec.7th - Paris... first time I'll be playing outside of North America! I just wrapped up a remix for Drop Out Orchestra and I've started one for Rogue Vogue. After that I'll be doing another original tune with Maiko Watson. Oh, I'm also starting a label with Karl Kling of RAC, Mani/Pedi Records... look for our first release very soon.

Well I'm vegan so I don't eat ice cream but we have this fake ice cream called Coconut Bliss... it's amazing. Salted Carmel and Chocolate...mmmm.
